Marilyn J. Heed, 69, of Rigby, passed away Friday, September 21, 2012 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.
She was born May 17, 1943, in Los Angeles, California to Harold Otto Kohn and Emma Mary Jandera Kohn. She was raised and attended schools in Pasadena, California; graduating from Arcadia High School. She continued her education at Westminster College in SLC, Utah. On November 22, 1963 she married Harvey G. Heed Jr. in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple; they later divorced.
She worked for Allstate Insurance Company in Pasadena, California, Hercules Power Company in Salt Lake City, Utah and taught community education classes in Jordan and Granite School Districts in Utah; she was also a substitute teacher. She was a professional artist for 40 years, participated in art festivals for 30 years and taught at school assemblies for 12 years. She also raised and trained horses for 23 years.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Intermountain Society of Artists in Utah, Eagle Rock Art Guild and Pocatello Art Center in Idaho and the National Artists of the West.
She is survived by her daughter, DeAnna L. (Brad) Reeves of Rigby, Idaho, grandchildren, Jennifer, Alexandria, Kyle and Trevor Reeves, and son, Stephen K. Heed of Seattle, Washington.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Emma Janera (Clifford) Anderson, father Harold O. Kohn, and her grandparents.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 27, 2012 at Rigby Pioneer Cemetery with Bishop Willard Berry, conducting. Services are under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby,
