Marjorie June Scott, 84, of Rigby, died Thursday, April 23, 2009, at her home, under the care of Aspen Home Health and Hospice. She was born June, 24, 1924, in Lewisville, to Melvin James Winchester, and Ida Grace Lee Winchester. She was raised in Lewisville, Lincoln, and Rigby. She attended school in Rigby and graduated from Ammon High School. On December 7, 1946, she married Keith Scott, in Thomas, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized on December 12, 1981, in the Idaho Falls, LDS, Temple. She was an Independent Cake Decorator for several years and later worked as a Cake Decorator for Broulim’s Grocery Store in Rigby. In 1986 she and Keith opened Scotty’s Auto Parts in Rigby where she served as a bookkeeper for many years. Later they opened Scotty’s True Value and Scotty’s Two, also in Rigby. Marjorie was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as the Curator of the Philo T. Farnsworth and Pioneer Museum, since 1993. In 2005, she received the Rigby Chamber of Commerce Life Time Service Award, she was The Jefferson Chair for the 1990 Idaho Statehood Centennial, received the American Cancer Society 35 Year Service Award, and was a member of The VFW Woman’s Auxiliary for more than 50 years. A photograph of her was published in America 24/7, she co-authored Images of America: Jefferson County (Arcadia Publishing, 2009). Marjorie lived life to its fullest and completed her bucket list just days before her death. She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Lyn Scott, of Salt Lake City, UT, Krystal (Jerry) Vanleuven of Roberts, ID, two sons Kirk Asael (Kathee) Scott, of Rigby, Tony Keith (Gayle) Scott, of Menan, one sister JoAnn Crabtree, of Anaconda, MT, and 3 brothers. Jack (Kay) Winchester, of Idaho Falls, Duane Winchester, of South Ogden, UT, and Ronald Winchester, of Sacramento, CA, 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Michael Lee Scott, a sister, Shirley Winchester, and a brother, Melvin Lee Winchester. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday April 27 at the Rigby 1st and 4th Ward LDS Chapel. The family will visit with friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main St., Rigby, and from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Monday, prior to services at the church. Interment will follow at the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel.
