Marjorie T. Smith age 77, of Rigby, died Saturday, March 25, 2006, at her home from complications of cancer.
She was born January 17, 1929 in Rigby, Idaho the daughter of Wayne E. Tibbitts and LaRetta Jones Tibbitts. She attended elementary school in Lorenzo and graduated from Rigby High School. She continued her education attending and graduating from Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho in 1949 and Brigham Young University in 1969 in Elementary Education. She taught school in Rigby, Idaho for 36 years retiring in 1992. She taught at Harwood and Kinghorn Elementary Schools. After her retirement she continued to help in the schools administering Aptitude Tests.
She married Ray G. Smith on June 8, 1951 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints she served in the Relief Society, Sunday School and as a matron at the Idaho Falls Temple.
She was an avid golfer and was currently working for Cedar Park Golf Course.
She enjoyed teaching in which her greatest joy was her students, horse back riding with her family and friends in Yellowstone and skiing.
She is survived by her husband Ray G. Smith of Rigby, Idaho. Her sons; Dennis R. (Susan) Smith of Lima, Ohio and Greg W. (Margo) Smith of Rigby, Idaho. Sister, Barbara (O.K.) Jones of Rigby, Idaho. A brother, Errol (Marilyn) Tibbitts of Rigby, Idaho. Eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Wayne and LaRetta Tibbitts.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 29, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. in the Rigby East Stake Center. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday, March 28, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel and on Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Staker Center. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery.
