Marlin “Swede” Benjamin Schlenker, 50, of Rigby, died Wednesday, April 19, 2012 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.
He was born May 4, 1961, in Jamestown, North Dakota to Benjamin A. Schlenker and Betty Widmer Schlenker. He was raised and attended schools in Jamestown. On August 27, 1983, he married Tammy Lynn Robbins in Afton, Wyoming. To this union they added 4 children.
He worked for Idaho Pacific, in the shipping department, WRF Resources in South Dakota in a gold mine, at Terry’s Automotive in Sundance, Wyoming as a mechanic, and as a motorman working in the oil fields in Pinedale, Wyoming.
Marlin loved being outdoors, fishing and hunting, raising calves and horses and keeping up with the yard work. He enjoyed working with his brothers and helping others. He took pride in all the work he did and loved his truck. He also enjoyed playing Yahtzee, Pinochle and Rook. He enjoyed laughing, and spending time with his family. He loved his children and grand children very much; adored his wife, and always did his best to make her happy. He will be deeply loved and missed.
He is survived by his wife, Tammy Lynn Schlenker, of Rigby; daughters, Tiffany (Kevin) Acor, of Nampa, Sami Jo Schlenker, of Rigby, Audrianna B. Schlenker, of Rigby; son, Joshua Ben Schlenker, of Rigby; sisters, Rita Butler, Bonnie (Gordon) Specht, Mary (Brad) Kalmbach, Paula (Mike) Nitschke, Nancy (Frank) Jangula and Jenie (James) Schwartz; brother, Greg (Bette) Schlenker, of Rigby; and 10 grandchildren Natasha, McKenzie, Skyler, Tristen, Cameron, Jasmine, Nickolas, Joclyn, Jaysa and Zavier.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Anthony “Tony” Schlenker.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2012, at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main Street in Rigby. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Friday and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services, both at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery, under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby. Memorial Contributions may be made at any Bank of Commerce in his name.
