Martha Mary Haywood Helsing, 87, of Rigby, Idaho died Wednesday, January 26, 2005 at the Beehive Homes in Rigby of natural causes.
She was born April 13, 1917, in Rigby, Idaho, the oldest child born to George Charles and Laura May Scott Haywood. She was born and raised on the family homestead farm north east of Rigby.
She attended school in Rigby and graduated from Rigby High School. She married Albert Homer Helsing on September 30, 1938 in Pocatello, Idaho. They raised three children. Martha loved cooking, gardening, crocheting and embroidery and making quilts. She especially loved camping, fishing, hunting and being with her family. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and a life time member of the Modern Woodmen of America.
Survivors include children, son, Dwain (Vicki) of Rigby and daughter, Lola of Idaho Falls. Eight grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albert Helsing, a sister, Blanche (Eugene) Pickens; a brother, George Lloyd Haywood; a son, LaVern Helsing, and a grandson, Scott Helsing.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 31, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the Eckersell Memorial Chapel with Bishop Brett Olaveson officiating. The family will meet with friends and family from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 30, 2005 and for one hour prior to services on Monday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery.
