Marva Skinner, 96, of Idaho Falls, passed away April 17, 2026, at Idaho Falls Community Hospital.
She was born June 4, 1929, in Kemmerer, Wyoming, to Leon Nelson and Verna Sinclair. Marva was raised in Victor and attended school there and lived in Ririe, Rigby, and Idaho Falls.
Marva was married to Dean Skinner, he preceded her in death. She later married John Sperry, he also preceded her in death. She worked throughout her life at Dean’s Meat Market, First Security Bank, and Medical Mart.
She was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she faithfully served as a temple worker, Relief Society president, choir member, and in the Young Women’s organization.
Marva enjoyed gardening, picking mushrooms and huckleberries in the mountains, and living the farm life. She especially loved reading her scriptures.
She is survived by her children: Joyce Mitchell of Oklahoma; Marva Jean Burnside of Rigby, Idaho; Anna Marie (James) Brown of Rigby, Idaho; Val Dean (ShaRee) Skinner of Nampa, Idaho; and Hal (Susan) Skinner of Rigby, Idaho. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers and sisters her husbands, Dean Skinner and John Sperry; her son, Ron Skinner; and her son-in-law Cleve Kay Burnside, a grandson Joshua Dean Skinner, a granddaughter Jeannie Marie Burnside, a great granddaughter Lenix Jessica Johnson and a great grandson Watson Dahl Skinner.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Eckersell Funeral Home, 101 West Main Street, Rigby, Idaho. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 2:00 to 2:50 p.m. Interment will follow at the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery.
