Marvin Vance Douglass, 60 of Menan, died Thursday, February 6, 2014 at his home.
He was born February 1, 1954, in Rigby to Fred Allen Douglass and Dorla Elizabeth Burnside Douglass. He was raised and attended schools in Annis, Menan, Midway, and Roberts, graduating from Rigby High School. On August 12, 1977, he married Colleen Olsen in Menan. They later divorced.
Vance worked for Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and for the City of Rigby Police Department. For the last 30 years he worked for Tractor Sales as a Mechanic in Idaho Falls and retired 3 years ago. Vance was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandkids.
He is survived by his mother, Dorla Douglass, of Annis, sons, Michael Fred (Lyndsey) Douglass of Idaho Falls, Matt Louis Douglass, of Rigby, grandchildren, Presley Ann Douglass, Damien Louis Douglass, Drake Michael Douglass, sisters, Maureen (Carl) Stone, of Elkridge, Utah, Tana Quinton, of Archer, Debra (David) Swager, of Rigby, LaNae Hope of Idaho Falls, brothers, Royce (Lesa) Douglass, of Lewisville, and Tim (Suzanne) Douglass, of Annis.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main Street, Rigby. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery.
