Mary Elizabeth Welchman Ball, age 89, died Tuesday, March 13, 2007, at Rexburg Nursing and Rehab in Rexburg. She was under the care of Hands of Hope Hospice.
Mary was born November 10, 1917, at Grover, Wyoming a daughter to David Samuel Welchman and Margaret Ann Hodge Welchman. She was raised in Salt Lake City and graduated from East High School. She married Lyman James Ball, Jr. May 6, 1940 in Farmington, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple, May 8, 1999.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She worked at the Court House in Jackson, Wyoming and at McGee’s Restaurant in Jackson, Wyoming. She enjoyed boating and camping at Jackson Lake, counted cross stitch, crocheting, Bingo with friends and collecting porcelain dolls.
She is survived by two daughters: Dorothy Jane (Hal) Merritt of Hillsboro, Oregon and Mary Ann Hoffman of Rigby, one sister Nancy Thompson of Salt Lake City, Utah, one brother Sheldon Welchman of Salt Lake City, Utah, 11 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband James, 1 infant son, 2 brothers and 1 sister.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 17, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby with Bishop Mark Carey officiating. The family will visit with friends on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery.
