In loving memory of Mary E. Carter, age 88, passed away at Pine Brook Assisted Living Center of Idaho Falls, Friday, January 27, 2012.
She was born in Rigby, June 9, 1923 a daughter to Henry and Mary Richardson Griffin. She attended schools in Rigby graduating from Rigby High School in 1938. She grew close to friends in High School and monthly kept in touch in their “Get together”.
She married Edmund F. Carter in 1942 in Rigby. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple.
She worked in Potato Warehouses in the Pocatello and Rigby areas and raised her family there. She was active in the Rigby Booster Club traveling to see home and away games. She also followed Steve Hayes as he played for Idaho State University, the Jazz and Trailblazers. She enjoyed crafts especially quilting and crocheting. Her family was most important to her. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She always invited outsiders in to feed them with her outstanding cooking abilities always able to add one more spot at the table. She enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing the outdoors.
She is survived by her children: Vickie (Ron) Williams of Firth, Mary (Alex) Snider of Boseman, Montana, Dianna (Danny) Walker of Alpine, Wyoming, Dalbert (Chris) Oswald of Chubbock, Edmund (Glenda) Carter of Idaho Falls, and Terry (Janice) Roberts of Ammon, Idaho, sisters Lavonne (Bonnie) Caudle of Lake Havasu, Arizona and Wanda Summers of Aberdeen, Idaho, 20 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters Wanita, Victoria and Laura and two brothers Hank and Kerney and her ex husband Edmund F. Carter.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sage Lakes Ward at 3370 North 5th West, Idaho Falls. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby and on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Thomas cemetery in Blackfoot.
