Mary Avery Cook, 78, of Milo, died Monday, September 20, 2004, at the home of her son, Dennis. Mary was born August 12, 1926, in Pocatello, Idaho; a daughter of Charles Ira and Bertha Eames Avery. She was raised in the Milo area and graduated from Ucon High School. She married James Calvin Cook in the Salt Lake L.D.S. Temple on December 8, 1943. They settled in Milo where they lived and farmed. Mary was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many church callings. Mary also served as a precinct registrar in Bonneville County for several years. Mary enjoyed camping and fishing with her husband, crocheting, quilting, and being with her family.
Mary is survived by two daughters Connie (Garry) Buell of Idaho Falls, Delain (Don) Price of Milo, three sons Rick (Delores) Cook of Milo, Dwain Cook of Grand Junction, Colorado, Dennis (Ann) Cook of Milo; sisters Amy (Kay) Stowell of Ogden, Utah, Luella (LeGrand) Jones of Milo, Delma (Newell) Hill of Witchita, Kansas; Lucile Avery of Milo, LaRae Avery of Bancroft, and brothers Bud (Cheryl) Avery of Milo, and Doyle Skinner of Milo; 22 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James, and brothers and sisters, Lila Skinner, Roy, Cleon, Leo, Merrill, Zelma, and Margie Avery.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 23, 2004, at the Milo 2nd Ward Chapel at 11:00 a.m. with Bishop Ken Stucki officiating. The family will meet with friends on Wednesday, September 22, 2004, at the Eckersell Memorial Chapel from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. and prior to the services at the Milo Church from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. Burial will follow the services at the Milo Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
