Mary Evelyn Dunn Gardner, 73, of Rigby passed away Monday, June 25, 2012, at her home.
Mary was born June 8, 1939, in Seven Bridges, Pennsylvania to Donald Robert Dunn and Pruella Edith Toombs Dunn. She was raised in Seven Bridges, Pennsylvania and attended Potter County High School. On May 4, 1958, she married William James Gardner Sr. in Ulysses, Pennsylvania.
Mary was a member of the Free Methodist Church. She enjoyed serving in the community and was a Lions Club Member, worked with the Tasting Tea and Cooperative Extension in Dubois, Idaho and Ithaca New York, was a FHA Leader, Volunteer Candy Striper, a member of the McLean, New York Auxiliary and Etna Field Days Auxiliary, as well as a 4-H Volunteer Leader. She was caring and compassionate and enjoyed providing child care in her home and did seasonal work at the USSES caring for orphan lambs after her husband Bill retired she went to work at Wal-Mart retiring in 2010. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, and going for car rides. She loved camping, fishing and doing crafts, and treasured the time together with her grandchildren and family.
She is survived by her husband, William James Gardner Sr., of Rigby, daughters; Debbi Gardner (Ken) Blanchard, of Idaho Falls, Sherri Anne Gardner (Mark) Caspers, of Salem, sons; William James (Sue) Gardner Jr., of Idaho Falls, Charles Robert Gardner, of Blackfoot, sisters; Ruth Edith Dunn (Jim) Close, of Wellsville, New York, Irene “Mabel” Dunn (Joe) Brown, of Leivasy, West Virginia, Janet Mae Dunn Button, of Salt Lake City, Utah, brothers; Donald Irwin (Marie) Dunn, of Scott, New York, Larry William Dunn, of Dryden, New York, John Paul (Honey) Dunn, of Ulysses, New York, Robert Sydney (Candi) Dunn, of Ulysses, New York, Roy James (Rhonda) Dunn, of Groton, New York, 8 grandchildren; Dan, Michelle, Matthew, Kyle, Cassitti, Samantha, Shae, and Lacie, 5 great-grandchildren; Sarah, Christian, Aubrey, Lily, Taylor, and 1 on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters; Esther Vera Dunn, Christine Anne Dunn, and Carol Marie Dunn Babbott.
A celebration of Mary’s life will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 2, 2012, at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main Street, Rigby. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Lung Association at www.lung.org
