Mary N. Grover, 69, our beloved daughter, mother, wife, sister, grandmother and friend passed from this life and entered into eternity on November 30, 2014 after a valiant battle with breast cancer.
She was born on November 16, 1945, the second child of P.C. and Edith Bowen, Jr. She was raised in Ashton and Spencer and attended Clark County schools, graduating in 1963.
Mary’s early life was mostly spent working with her parents on the family farm in Ashton. She was kind, considerate, compassionate and helpful; characteristics that were displayed throughout her childhood and into her adult life. In 1963, she married Rex Holden in Dubois, and they had three children; Treva (Darrin) May of Spencer, ID, Michael (Laurie) Holden of Idaho Falls, ID, and Lisa (DJ) Jackson of Seattle, WA. They were later divorced.
In 1978, she married U. Blaine Grover in Idaho Falls, and they had three children; Evan (Jodi) Grover of Spanish Fork, UT, Eric Grover of Woonsocket, SD, and Lane (Rachael) Grover of Rigby, ID. This marriage was later solemnized in the LDS Temple and they were sealed on March 28, 1987. From this marriage Mary also gained eight loving stepchildren; Sheila (Jim) Lane of Pagosa Springs, CO, Tarri (David) Leonardson of Dubois, ID, Rodney (Sharon) Grover of Trinity Village, CA, Randy (Jill) Grover of Dubois, ID, Kelly (Leslie) Grover of Greeley, CO, Bryan (Cinde) Grover of Moreno Valley, CA, Brad (DeAnn) Grover of Spanish Fork, UT, and Kirk (Karen) Grover of Inkom, ID.
Mary had a passion for community service, which was displayed throughout her life. Her love for people was evident through her contributions that she made to her community. Most recently, she served as Branch Manager at East Idaho Credit Union for 16 years. She also served on the Clark County Economic Development Council and Mud Lake Telephone Board until her death.
Mary was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many church capacities. Not only did she love serving others and her community, but she also loved sewing, quilting, gardening, board games, family reunions, snowmobiling, singing, horseback riding and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her mother; husband; children; step-children; siblings; Patrick (Peggy) Bowen of Soldotna, AK, Irma Lamb of Anchorage, AK, and Todd (Lori) Bowen of Spokane, WA; 66 grandchildren and 69 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father and sister, Angela Black.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00pm, Friday, December 5, 2014 at the Beaver Creek Ward LDS Chapel. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Dubois Cemetery. Services are under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.eckersellfuneralhome.com.
