Mary Alice Winckel, age 93, died on April 23, 2020, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She was born on July 24, 1926, in Cooter, Missouri. She is survived by two daughters, Charlotte Irene Wing (David) of Maricopa, Arizona, Marion Sue Young (Shayne) of Rigby, Idaho, and Charles Frederick Winckel (Laurie), of Hutto, Texas. She has 17 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Mary was the first child of six children born to James LaFate Richardson and Martha Irene Cain Richardson who precede her in death along with a brother, John Alvin (Buddy) Richardson.
She is survived by three sisters and one brother: Ruth Eggers, Bertrand Missouri; Billie Hiles, Chaffee, Missouri; Shirley Cline, Warrenton, Missouri; and Dwight Richardson (Londa) of Cleveland, Tennessee. Survivors also include a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
A long-time Sikeston and Bertrand, Missouri, resident, she owned and operated a child-care center. In her later life she liked to visit her children and relatives driving her mobile travel home. She had no fear of traveling across the U.S. by herself. She was a vibrant, strong-willed woman with firm opinions, but compassionate and loved to help others. She also periodically worked to care for elderly people in their homes. The last year and a half of her life, she moved to be close to her daughter, Marion, in Idaho.
She loved to laugh, play games, eat great Southern cooking, interact with her family members, read her scriptures and pray to her Heavenly Father in the name of her Savior, Jesus Christ.
