July 31, 1934 — April 21, 2018

Mary Alice Brantzeg, 83, lost her battle with cancer April 21, 2018 at her home in Rigby, Idaho surrounded by her loving family. Mary Alice was born July 31, 1934 in Perkins (Hull) Iowa to Herman Van De Weerd and Jacoba “Cora” Kuhl Van De Weerd. She was the youngest of 10 children and attended school in Perkins.

She married Richard Lange, from this union 3 children were born, Donna, LeRoy and Mike. They were later divorced. She later married Frederick Schmidt to this union was born 3 daughters, Sheila, Debbie, Rhonda. They were later divorced. She married Richard Lansdowne to this union 1 daughter was born, Viola. They were later divorced. She married Grant Petersen in San Jose, California and together they moved their family to Archer, Idaho. This is the BEST move Mom made for all of her children. She later divorced Grant. She met and married Dexter Brantzeg and had started a new adventurous chapter of her life. After Dexter passed away she met Darrell Ard, they were Best friends and companions.

She loved traveling, dancing, crafts, sewing, motor cycling, four wheeling, camping, listening to old country music, and having yard sales. Her favorite place she wintered was Overton, Nevada. She was a life time member of the VFW AUX. In her travels she loved meeting many wonderful people in which many became her best friends.

Mary Alice is survived by her daughters, Donna (Bobby) Smout of Challis, Idaho, Sheila (Jim) Simon of Menan, Idaho, Debbie (Morgan) Anderson of Thornton, Idaho, Rhonda Schmidt of Rigby, Idaho, Viola Lansdowne Fallis of Idaho Falls, Idaho, sons, LeRoy (Diane Hubble) Lange of Idaho Falls, Mike Lange of Tacoma, Washington, a brother Lockie Van De Weerd of Redding, California, as well as 19 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded by her parents, her husband, 4 sisters, 4 brothers, and her best friend and companion Darrell Ard.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date this summer. She lived life to the fullest and did a lot with it. Her greatest joy in life were her children and dancing.
