Matthew Duane Avery

Matthew Duane Avery, 54, of Rigby, Idaho, passed away at his home on June 24, 2026.

Matthew was born on September 24, 1971, in Logan, Utah, to Merrill Duane Avery and Mary LeRae Iler Avery. He received his GED and spent much of his working life in road construction, truck driving, and dispatching. During his adult life, he resided in Nampa, Idaho; Milo, Idaho; and Logan, Utah.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Matthew enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. His hobbies included riding motorcycles, fishing, woodworking, and building cabinets.

Matthew is survived by his children: Kayile Hansen (Taylor) of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Tysen Avery of Rigby, Idaho; Alyssa Avery (Kendal) of Moscow, Idaho; Gavin Avery (Marissah) of Idaho Falls, Idaho; and Chance Avery of Rigby, Idaho. He is also survived by four grandchildren; Salem, Oaklynn, and Isaiah Hansen, Baylor Avery, his sister, Jody Askew (Jeff) of Glenns Ferry, Idaho; and his brother, Jeffrey Avery (Stephanie) of Odessa, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Merrill Duane and Mary LaRae (Iler) Avery, and his sister, Julie Kay (Avery) Farmer.

Graveside services will be held Friday, July 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Milo Cemetery, located at 8020 E. 129 N., Idaho Falls, ID 83401.
