Mauna Rae Allen

September 21, 1950 — July 6, 2025

Mauna Rae Kidd Allen, age 74, passed away peacefully at her home in Rigby, Idaho, on July 6, 2025, surrounded by and under the compassionate care of her loving family.

Mauna Rae was born on September 21, 1950, in Burley, Idaho, to Billy J. Kidd and LaRena Myrth Jones Kidd. She was the second of ten children and was raised in Burley alongside her five sisters and four brothers. Her life was grounded in faith, family, and service.

Her father lovingly called her “STEADY” — a nickname that perfectly captured who she was. To her family, friends, ward members, and community, Mauna Rae was a steady, unwavering presence — always there, always consistent, and always full of love. She supported all who knew her with everything she had — emotionally, spiritually, and physically. Her strength came from a deep sense of purpose and a profound faith in and testimony of Jesus Christ, whose light shone through her every action. Her mother affectionately called her “Mink,” and her siblings knew her as “Mauny.”

Mauna Rae graduated from Burley High School in 1968, then went on to attend Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho, and Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. In the summer of 1971, she returned to Burley to work at Kings Variety Warehouse, where she met her sweetheart and future husband, Dale Norman Allen. The two were married on August 11, 1972, and were later sealed for time and all eternity on August 11, 1973, in the Manti Utah Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

In the early years of their marriage, Mauna Rae worked hard to support their family while Dale finished his business marketing degree at BYU. They were blessed with five children: Michael David, Jessica Rae, Bradley Shawn, Brian Dale, and Jeffery Leon. The family lived in Rigby, Boise, and Rexburg, Idaho — eventually settling in Rigby, where they built their forever home and created a place full of love, faith, and welcome for all.

Being a mother and homemaker was always Mauna Rae’s top priority. She devoted herself wholeheartedly to her children and husband. When needed, she took on odd jobs to help support the family and teach her children the value of work.

In 1991, Dale and Mauna Rae moved their family to Rexburg, where they purchased Somerset Apartments and began a new chapter in student housing and property management. Even in business, Mauna Rae’s kindness, grace, and dedication shone through.

From 2005 to 2007, Mauna Rae and Dale served a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the West Indies Mission. They were assigned to labor in Trinidad, Tobago, where they had a profound impact on the missionaries they served with and the beloved people of the West Indies. Throughout their life together, Mauna Rae and Dale served faithfully in numerous church callings, where their influence was felt deeply among their ward and stake members.

One of Mauna Rae’s greatest joys in life was being a grandmother. She and Dale were blessed with 20 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. They were the kind of grandparents every child dreams of — hosting sleepovers, making big breakfasts, and creating meaningful memories. A sign in her home reads: “Grandma’s house, where cousins go to become friends.” That wasn’t just a decoration — it was her mantra. She lived to bring her family together and nurture love between generations.

Mauna Rae is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Dale Norman Allen; her five children: Mike (Heather), Jessica Rae Falevai, Brad (Annie), Brian (Krista), and Jeff (Jess); her 20 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; and all nine of her siblings and their spouses: Lora Kidd, Billy J. Kidd, Cory Kidd, Marleen Forgeon, Rexanne Peterson, John Kidd, Scott Kidd, Willow May, and Heather Harris. She is also survived by sister-in-law Kathy Schmidt, sister-in-law Danette Valdez, brother-in-law Tony Aukerman, and father-in-law Dan Aukerman.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Billy J. and LaRena Myrth Kidd; her mother-in-law, Donna Aukerman; her father-in-law, Wilbur Leon Allen; and two precious twin great-grandbabies, who we believe were there waiting to welcome her to the other side of the veil.

Mauna Rae’s life was one of purpose, love, and quiet strength. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched — and most especially in her cherished posterity. She will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
