Maurine Engberson

Maurine Engberson, 93, of Idaho Falls, died Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at her home. She was born January 17, 1917, in Rexburg, to Alma Edward Beck and Mary Tressa McNeil Beck. She was raised and attended schools in Rexburg, graduating from Madison High School. As a youth she spent enjoyable summers on the dryfarm at Green Canyon. She continued her education at Ricks College in Rexburg and Stevens-Henager Business College in Idaho Falls. She worked as a secretary for Nelson-Ricks Creamery. On January 6, 1942, she married Alma Henry Engberson in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Maurine waited faithfully while Al served in the US Navy during World War II. Two children were born during those four years. In 1950 Al and Maurine bought 160 newly cleared acres in Monteview. In 1953 they moved their four children and six cows to Monteview. They added two more children, more acreage and innumerable cows to become a successful family and dairy operation. Al died in 1982. Maurine stayed in her home in Monteview until she moved to Idaho Falls to live with her daughter four years ago. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Relief Society and the Primary. She also served two missions; to the Southern States and to San Jose California. Maurine enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking and was an excellent gardener. She has set a great example to her family of faith, devotion and service. She is survived by her daughters, Eva (Jim) Campbell, of Idaho Falls, Martha (Calvin) Herrin, of Provo, Utah, Jan(Kurt) Bird, of Leadore, sons, Ron (Vicki) Engberson, of Monteview, Paul (Lona) Engberson, of Terreton, Loyd (Donnette) Engberson, of Monteview, 22 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 4 sisters, a brother and a grandson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 22, 2010, at the Terreton Stake Center with Bishop Kerry Klingler of the Rosewood Ward conducting. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., prior to services at the stake center. Burial will be in the West Jefferson Memorial Park Cemetery under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
