Maurine Niederer, 94, of Taylorsville, Utah, formerly of Mud Lake, died Saturday, July 27, 2013, at her home.
She was born October 11, 1918, in Pysht, Washington to Harold Robert Andersen and Reeta Loy Stocks Andersen. She was raised and attended schools in Teton City and Bernice, Idaho. She attended high school in Arco and graduated from Moore High School. She continued her education at Ricks College and Utah State University, graduating with Bachelors Degrees in Political Science and Education. She taught at West Jefferson Elementary for 26 years. On July 30, 1940, she married George Floyd Peterson in the Logan LDS Temple, he preceded her in death. On February 23, 1962 she married George Emil Niederer in Terreton, he preceded her in death.
Maurine was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; she served in the Primary, Young Women’s Association and in the Relief Society. She enjoyed making ceramics, quilting, needle point, knitting crocheting and reading.
She is survived by her daughters, Marolyn McCormick, of Shelley, Lynne LaRee (Larry) Bain, of Layton, Utah, Merriloy (Dean) Paynter, of Taylorsville, Utah, Lori Ann Todd, of St. Anthony, Betty Louise Niederer, of Kent, Washington, sons, Gailyn Jeffs (Lynda) Peterson, of Caldwell, Glen Ray (Joan) Peterson, of Boise, Larry Emil (Jayne) Niederer, of Hamer, William Arthur (Penny) Niederer, of Kailua Kona, Hawaii, Bert George (Rebecca) Niederer, of Kennewick, Washington, Bob Lee (Beckie) Niederer, of Lyman, Wyoming, sister, Donnamay (S.A.) Kolman of Tucson, Arizona, Gladys (Robert) Young, of Bountiful, Utah, Clysta June Reed, of Arco, Idaho, 52 grandchildren, 115 great-grandchildren and 27 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, 1 sister, 3 brothers, 1 granddaughter and 2 great-grandchildren.
A visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday, July 31, 2013 from 7-8:30 p.m. at the LDS Church on 6100 South Kamas Dr. in Taylorsville, Utah.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Friday, August 2, 2013 at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main Street, Rigby. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. – 12:45 p.m., prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery in Idaho Falls.
