Maxine Hazel Hansen

Maxine Hazel Briggs Hansen, 69, of Rexburg, Idaho died Sunday, September 19, 2004 at her home in Rexburg. Maxine was born April 10, 1935 in Thornton, Idaho, the daughter of Edward Briggs and Hazel Lavon Anderson Briggs. She attended Independence Elementary School in Thornton, Idaho and graduated from Madison High School in Rexburg, Idaho. She married Howard Blaine Hansen on September 19, 1953 at her brother, Leroy’s home in Rexburg, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on July 7, 1976. As a member of the LDS Church, she served in the Primary for a number of years, and in the Relief Society. She was the Rolling Hills Ward Historian and a member of the Soroptimist Club. She was an active genealogist and historian. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers where she served as secretary/ treasurer and historian. She and her husband owned and operated the Howard Hansen Furniture Store in Rexburg and St. Anthony, Idaho for many years. She made and decorated cakes for many weddings, birthdays and anniversaries. Maxine was friend to everyone and everyone she met was a friend, we love you Grams, we’ll miss you. She is survived by her son, Neil (Cathryn) Hansen of Rexburg, Idaho and one sister, Dorothy Hansen of Thornton, Idaho, four grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Howard, a son Layne Hansen and four brothers. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 22, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Rexburg East Stake Center (387 South 4 East, Rexburg, Idaho) with Bishop Bart Webster officiating. The family will meet with friends at the Stake Center on Tuesday, September 21, 2004 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and on Wednesday, September 22, 2004 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Sutton Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Funeral Home.
