Melba Ragan, 91, of Shelley, Idaho died Monday, January 11, 2005 at her home in Shelley. Melba was born on June 9, 1913 in Grant, Idaho a daughter of Margery Margaret Bramwell Miller and Charles Albert Miller. Melba married Raymond Kenneth Ragan on December 27, 1930 in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
She grew up in the Grant and Idaho Falls areas attending schools in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and had served in the Primary and Relief Society.
She served as leader in the 4-H program and as a Brownie Leader in the Girl Scouts.
She loved her many hobbies including being an avid painter and artist, seamstress, raising a garden, animals and flowers and being an avid reader.
She is survived by her husband Raymond Kenneth Ragan of Shelley, Idaho. A daughter; Margery J. (Walter Lynn) Houdyshell of Boise, Idaho. Three sons; Raymond K. Ragan of Shelley, Idaho, Rodney (Carol) Ragan of Idaho Falls, Idaho and Reed (Mary Ann) Ragan of Idaho Falls, Idaho. A sister; Ruth (Babe) Madrazo of Vacaville, California. Twenty-one grandchildren, fifty great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 17, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. in the Woodville LDS 10th Ward Chapel with Bishop Robert Butler officiating. The family will meet with friends on Monday, January 17, 2005 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. in the Woodville LDS Ward Chapel. Burial will be in the Grove City Cemetery in Blackfoot, Idaho under the direction of Eckersell Funeral Home.
