Melva Davis age 94, of Rigby, passed away Monday, October 29, 2012, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.
Melva was born January 15, 1918 at Lyman, Idaho a daughter to William James and Emma Smith. She was raised on a farm in Lyman, attended Madison schools and graduated from Madison High School.
She had 14 brothers and sisters and was the only one of the girls to get a driver’s license. She was then the designated driver for all of the girls as they needed to get to various activities.
She met William Glen Davis at a barn dance in Lyman and they were later married January 6, 1936 in Rigby.
Melva worked at various jobs during her life and managed a trailer park in Rigby for a number of years but she enjoyed most being a wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending winters in Arizona with her husband before he preceded her in death, and spent 5 winters there since, enjoying time with her daughters.
She is survived by her two daughters Kay Walstrom and Gaylene (Larry) Koon both of Mojave Valley, Arizona, 6 grandchildren Danny Walstrom, Wendy (Ted) Nixon, Kelly (Bea) Koon, Rena (Gordy) Watt, Cory Koon and Cathy (Robert) Lewis, 7 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 14 brothers and sisters, three sons Harvey, Ron and Jim Davis and 1 grandson Tandom Lazalde.
The family gives a special thanks to Dorothy Lewis for her kind and compassionate care of Melva for the past couple of years.
The family will visit with friends on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby. Interment will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery at a later date.
