Melvin Andrew Wilde, age 90 of Roberts passed away Thursday, May 29, 2014 at The Gardens Assisted Living Center in Rigby.
He was born March 11, 1924, in Howe, Idaho to George Andrew Wilde and Alice Rae Burton Wilde. He was raised and attended schools in Howe and Roberts. Melvin enlisted in the US Navy in 1943; he served during WWII aboard the USS Yolo, he was honorably discharged in 1946. On February 19, 1948 he married Glenda Marie Scott in Idaho Falls; they were blessed with four children. He worked as a farmer and carpenter and spent 27 years working for Jefferson County School District #251 as a maintenance supervisor, as a custodian and a bus driver. He retired in 1989.
Melvin was a member of the Board of the Upper Snake River Historical Society, as well as the Jefferson County Historical Society. He enjoyed history, hunting, camping, fishing, flint knapping, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his children, Dianna (Mike) Kirsch, of Florence, Mont., Delwin (Michelle) Wilde, of College Place, Wash., Scott (Pam) Wilde, of Idaho Falls, Wade (Larue) Wilde, of Roberts, sister, Leona Jones, of Roberts, brothers, Avon (Cloy) Wilde, of Roberts, Elmer (Deanna) Wilde, of Roberts, 13 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren with one more on the way.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Glenda Marie Wilde, parents, George Wilde and Alice Wilde Drowns, step-father, Calvin Drowns, brother, Herb Wilde and a granddaughter, Terri Kirsch.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main Street in Rigby. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery. Services are under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
