Merlin Lavar Gneiting, age 74, of Thatcher, Idaho formerly of Monteview, Idaho, died
Wednesday, December 18, 2002, at his son’s home in Thatcher, Idaho.
Merlin was born March 28, 1928, at Garfield, Idaho a son of William Gneiting and Mabel
Jenkins Gneiting. He attended school in Garfield and later completing Auto Mechanic
Certification. He married Ruby Evalyn Garner February 6, 1949 in Garfield. He owned and
operated a gas station in Rigby and in 1951 moved to Terreton and worked for Terreton
Implement. He also owned and operated Gneiting Repair. He was a member of The Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, gardening and spending
time with his kids.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one sister Mabel Evern Gneiting Birch and a
brother Harold Gene Gneiting.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 21, 2002, at 1:00 p.m. at the Eckersell
Memorial Chapel (101 West Main Street, Rigby, Idaho). The family will visit with friends on
Saturday from 11:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Grant
Central Cemetery, under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel.
