Michael John Allred, 49, died early morning January 10, 2025 at home in Rigby, Idaho. He was born in Tallahassee, Florida April 12, 1975, the sixth child of 8, to Mary Luell Best and Garth LaMar Allred. He was challenged from birth with a rare genetic disorder called Neurofibromatosis, but heroically accomplished all of his missions in life. Michael graduated from Kahuku High School in 1993, served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Argentina Buenos Aires North Mission for 2 years 1994-96 (speaking Castellano which is very close to Spanish), studied at Brigham Young University – Hawaii, graduated as a denture technician from AmeriTech College, and studied to become an x-ray technician at Stevens-Henager College in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Michael is survived by his wife, Richelle Ellis Allred (married in Albuquerque, NM, January 21, 2006); their son, Kaleo Michael Hercules Allred, of Rigby, Idaho; as well as his first son, Dugan Matthew Anderson (born to 1st wife, Lecia Anderson) of Lone Grove, Oklahoma; his 3 sisters: Angela Allred of Salt Lake City, Utah; JoEll (Doran) Pratte of Orem, UT; and Amber (Andy) DeGraw of Fairbanks, Alaska; his 4 brothers: Scott (Diana) Allred of Mayfield, Utah; Darron (Jodi) Allred of Orem, Utah; David (Ann) Allred of Sterling, Virginia; and Marc (Echo) Allred of Stafford, Virginia. Most of his 16 nephews, 23 nieces, 8 great-nephews, & 2 great-nieces knew him as “Uncle Monkey.”

Michael was preceded in death by his mother January 13, 2004 and his father June 9, 2011. He missed them very much. Whenever he wasn’t napping, or working on a jigsaw puzzle or word search, he enjoyed playing solitaire in front of a photo of his parents because he remembered his mom playing solitaire with Rook cards. Michael was witty, social, affectionate, and a faithful member of the church all his life.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 11:00am in the chapel of the LaBelle 1st Ward building of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 4223 East 528 North; Rigby, Idaho 83442. Some of his family and friends are planning to honor him by wearing green or Aloha attire.

As Michael wished, his body has been donated to a medical school so students could learn from his unique case. There will be no viewing. His resting spot is to be determined after the study. Guests may arrive as early as 10am to offer condolences. A luncheon will be held after the service for family and close friends. Please text Michael’s wife, Richelle, by Tuesday, asking to be included in the headcount.

His family would like to thank everyone who supported his GoFundMe, who knew him, cared for him, and loved him. We are sincerely grateful.
