Michael Davis Jones, age 40, of Rigby, passed away Friday, August 10, 2018 at Wilford, Idaho of an accidental drowning.
Michael was born June 28, 1978 in Blackfoot, Idaho a son to Orville Lawrence and Rhea Davis Jones. He graduated from Skyline High School in 1997. This is where he met his sweetheart Stephanie Stephens.
He served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Tampa, Florida. Following his mission he attended Idaho State University in Pocatello, studying Computer Programing.
He married Stephanie Elaine Stephens, August 19, 2000 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
He attended Utah State University in Logan, Utah where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Landscape architecture and a master’s degree in City Planning. He was a licensed Landscape Architect in the State of Utah. He worked for Design West in Logan, Utah, Idaho Department of Transportation and was currently employed with Horrocks Engineers.
Michael loved being with his wife, kids, and family. He enjoyed hiking, being in the mountains, landscaping, networking, and projects. He was anxiously engaged doing good to all people. He and was quick to do his duty at work and church to which he was currently serving as the 1st counselor in the Rigby 3 rd ward bishopric. He was an eagle scout and lived up to all that entailed. He was a friend to all and dearly loved his friends.
He is survived by his wife Stephanie Jones, son Craig Michael Jones daughters, Sydney Grace Jones and Regan Elaine Jones all of Rigby, his mother Rhea Jones of Idaho Falls, Father and Mother-in-law Michael and Wreatha Stephens of Rigby, brothers, Jeffrey Vernal (Mary) Jones of Ammon, Mark Orville (Sarah) Jones of Ammon, sisters, Jennifer (Phil) Webb of Woodinville, Washington and Lisa (Scott) McDonald of Draper, Utah and a sister-in-law Micalyn (Marcus) Anderson of Shelley, Idaho.
He was preceded in death by his father Larry Jones, and a brother-in-law Matthew Ryan Stephens who was his co-hort in crime.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Rigby 3 rd Ward LDS Church, 364 North 4100 East, Rigby, Idaho 83442. The family will visit with friends at the Rigby 3 rd Ward LDS Chapel Tuesday, August 14, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
