Michael Charles Mcconnell

Michael Charles McConnell, age 52, of Tetonia, Idaho passed away Friday, August 24, 2018.

Michael was born in Rexburg, Idaho on September 26, 1965 a son to Sheldon Loren and DaLee Andersen McConnell. He attended Kinghorn Elementary in Rigby, then moved to Idaho Falls where he attended Teresa Bunker elementary, O.E Bell Junior High and Bonneville High School.  He enjoyed playing football and wrestling and was very good at both.  His best friends were Chett and John Kishiama at Bonneville and Mike Leal at Clair E. Gale.  He traveled around for a few years, doing many different jobs, finally following his dads footsteps and became a bartender in Nevada.  He attended college at Great Basin College in Elko, Nevada to become a miner.  He mined at Berrick Goldstrike Mine in Nevada.  He loved his job.  He met Mindie Haney and had a son Darren with her in 2000.  He was the light of his life and was so proud of him.

Mike married Mary Inez his one and only in 1996 and again in 2013. They did everything together, exploring, working on cars, hunting, and taking Darren with them wherever they went.

He is survived by his wife Mary Inez McConnell of Tetonia, son Darren Michael McConnell of Bakersfield, Oregon, a son in Blackfoot, and daughter Makayla Haney of Elko, Nevada, 2 step children Lisa and Steve his mother DaLee Hansen of Rigby, a sister, Michelle Valdez of Tetonia a brother Colan David McConnell of Wendover, Nevada, and 20 nieces and nephews, and 4 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father Sheldon McConnell and a brother Mark Sheldon McConnell.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at the home of his mother (213 N. 4200 E.) at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.    Memorial donations may be sent to Eckersell Memorial Chapel 101 W. Main Street Rigby, Idaho.
