Miles David Mizl Taylor

Miles David “Milz” Taylor, 77, of Coltman, Idaho died Saturday, January 14, 2006 in Idaho Falls after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Miles was born April 3, 1928 in Grant, Idaho the son of William Pleasant Taylor and Florence Alfa Sergent Taylor. He attended schools in Ucon, Idaho including Ucon Elementary. He moved with his family to Mesa, Arizona and was there during his sophomore and Junior years until there returned to Ucon High School to graduate with his Senior Class. He attended Brigham Young University for two years following High School. He married JoAnn H. Kossman in Coltman, Idaho on October 22, 1950. He raised his family and farmed in the Coltman area. For a year and one half he worked for Bectel at the site, but returned to farming. He was a member and served as Director for the Harrison Canal Board. In 1981 he was awarded the grower of the year from Ashton to Grace from Coors Barley Company. For seventeen years he and his wife spent their winters in Mesa, Arizona and St.George, Utah. He was a pilot who maintained and flew his own small plane. He was a member of the LDS Church. He is survived by his wife; JoAnn Taylor of Coltman, Idaho and two daughters; Susie (Craig) Landon of Idaho Falls, Idaho and Denice Stevens of Lincoln, Idaho. Two sisters; Beaverly (Don) Burtenshaw of Terreton, Idaho and LaDawn Lott of Idaho Falls, Idaho. One brother; Bud Taylor of Kingman, Arizona. Seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Jill and two brothers; Owen and Hal. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, January 18, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. in the Coltman Ward Chapel with Bishop Larry Clayton officiating. There will be a visitation for friends on Tuesday, January 17, 2006 at Eckersell Memorial Chapel from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and on Wednesday prior to services at the Coltman Ward Chapel from 12:00 noon to 12:50.
