Mohonri Moreancumer Bishop

Mohonri M. Bishop, 88, of Rigby, died Monday, October 9, 2006, at Pine Brook Assisted Living Center in Idaho Falls. He was born November 29, 1917, at Delta Utah, a son of John Avery Bishop and Lemira Walker Bishop. He attended schools in Delta, Utah and Utah State University earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He served in the United States Navy during World War II from 1942 to 1945. He married June Johnson, June 6, 1941 at Logan, Utah LDS Temple. He owned and operated Bishop Cabinet Shop in Rigby for 50 years. He was an active member of the LDS Church serving in several Bishoprics, as Bishop for 11 years, on the Rigby Stake High Council as a Temple Officiator for 15 years and as the Rigby Stake Patriarch. He served on the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery board and as secretary for many years. He was an avid gardener. Survivors include four daughters, Marilyn (Conroy) Whipple of Salt Lake City, Utah, Leann (Larry) Stephens of Rigby, Clare Sleight of Rigby, Kay Bishop of Rigby, two sons, Wayne (Roma) Bishop of Pleasanton, California, Earl (Kim) Bishop of Rigby, two sisters, Ora Mae May of Overton, Nevada and Ava (Cecil) Losee of Delta, Utah, 25 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife June, three brothers and 2 sisters. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 14, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in the Rigby LDS Stake Center with Bishop Earl Bishop officiating. The family will visit with friends on Friday, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby and on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the Stake Center. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery.
