Mona LaWan Marler, (95), of Ririe, Idaho passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at Fairwinds Assisted Living in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
LaWan was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Parley Alexander Ririe and Edna Jane Cook. She grew up in Ririe, Idaho, attended Ricks College where she studied secondary education. She subsequently taught in the Ririe Elementary School for many years and touched many lives.
LaWan married Frank Marler in 1948. Together they raised seven rambunctious boys.
LaWan was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings including as a missionary to Cody, Wyoming and Gulf Port, Mississippi.
LaWan is survived by her children; Brian Marler of Anaconda, Montana, Richard (Merna) Marler of Rigby, Idaho, Bruce (Becky) Marler of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Scott (Ann) Marler of Burgettstown, Pennsylvania. Siblings; Sylvan (Jo) Ririe of Firth, Idaho, Warren (Sharolyn) Ririe of Boise, Idaho, and Delaina (Kenny) Stromberg of Ririe, Idaho. She is survived by 24 grandchildren, 67 great grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis D Marler. Her parents. Three sons, George Marler, Steve Marler and Mark Marler.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 26, 2024 at 11:00 am in the Ririe Stake Center, (14061 North 130 East, Ririe, ID). The family will meet with friends Thursday evening from 6:00 - 7:30 pm at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby and Friday prior to the service at the stake center from 9:30 to 10:45 am. Interment will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery.
