Muriel Dee Barnes, age 70, of Lewisville, died Monday, October 16, 2006 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.
Muriel was born October 8, 1936, at Downey, California a daughter of Jesse C Lyons and Muriel DeWitt Lyons. She attended schools in St. Anthony graduating from South Fremont High School. She also attended Idaho Falls LDS Hospital School of Nursing and worked for over 50 years as a nurse. She served in the United States Air Force as Flight Nurse in Viet Nam. She married Gene Edwin Barnes, September 27, 1967 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. She was an active member of the LDS Church and had served a Mission to the Northern States Mission. She loved to embroider, camp, travel and reading cook-books.
She is survived by her husband Gene Edwin Barnes of Lewisville, two daughters: Wendy Barnes of Lewisville, and Karen (Todd) Stowell of Rigby, two sons, Michael (Lisa) Barnes of Hamer and Daniel (Brenda) Barnes of Lewisville, mother Muriel Lyons of Rigby, four sisters: Nancy (Lynden) Crapo of Parker, Lorainne Georgia (Richard) Jenkins of Donnelly, Idaho, Ann Lyons of Hyrum, Utah and Jane (Van) Jorgenson of Moses Lake, Washington, two brothers Mark Lyons of Shelley and Martin Lyons of Rigby, 11 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 23, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. in the Lewisville LDS Chapel with Bishop Curtis Thomas officiating. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby and on Monday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Lewisville Cemetery.
