Myron Irvin Hancock

August 3, 1947 — March 29, 2005

Myron Irvin Hancock, 57, passed away March 29th, at his home in Menan, Idaho after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born August 3, 1947, in Rigby, Idaho to Irvin LeRoy and Verba Jensen Hancock. He attended Menan elementary, graduated from Rigby High School in 1965, and attended Ricks College. On December 1, 1967 he married the love of his life Darlene Cheney in the Idaho Falls Temple. His entire life was spent with her and their children working and serving in the small town of Menan. He loved working and serving in his community and the LDS church as Bishop and Stake President where he developed many dear and life long friendships. His family and farming were his greatest passions. His family will always cherish the memories of skipping rocks on the river, four wheeling down the field, camping in the mountains, and hunting with his boys and friends. His 13 grandchildren were the light of his life and always loved to spend time with grandma and grandpa on the farm. Family remaining are his wife, Darlene, his children: Kim (Todd) of Vernal, Utah, Matt (Nancy) Idaho Falls, Ben (Helen) Parma, Idaho, Daniel (Kari) American Falls, Idaho, Aaron (Amy) Shelley, Idaho, Kristin (Jay) Shelley, Idaho, 13 grandchildren, 8 brothers and sisters: Connie (Bruce) McFarland, Farmington, Utah, Karen (Jim) Meldrum, Helena, Montana, Marie (Bruce) Fredrickson, Lewiston, Utah, Gayle (Dick) Powell, Idaho Falls, Idaho, Rita (Bruce) Tingey, Centerville, Utah, Peggy Cornwall of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Dean (Barbara) Hancock, Menan, Idaho, Carl (Joy) Hancock, Lewisville, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be Friday, April 1st, at 1:00 p.m. in the Menan Stake Center. The family will visit with friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday evening at the Menan Stake Center and from 11:30 am to 12:45 pm before the services on Friday. Interment will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby. In lieu of flowers contributions to the LDS Perpetual Education Fund, LDS Humanitarian Aid or Hospice of Eastern Idaho would be appreciated by the family.
