Myrtle Engberson Buckland 91 of Rigby died Sunday, April 16, 2006, at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
Myrtle was born August 22, 1914, in Iona, Idaho to Hyrum and Rosetta Burns Engberson. The family lived in Iona until she was 2 years old when they moved to a farm near Irwin, Idaho. Myrtle attended elementary school in Irwin before the family moved to Idaho Falls, where she attended high school.
Myrtle married Floyd Hammer on October 11, 1930. They had two sons and were later divorced. She married June Wilson on October 18, 1934, and they later divorced. She married Keith Buckland on September 4, 1953, and they were married for fifty years before he preceded her in death. Myrtle and Keith lived in Rigby. She worked in the Idaho First National Bank and at the First Security Bank, both in Rigby, until she retired in August of 1976. She enjoyed tending her yard and flowers, camping, spending time with Keith at their place at Mud Creek along the South Fork, and with her Jack Russell Terrier named Jody.
Myrtle is survived by one son Gary (Rita) Hammer of Idaho Falls, one twin brother Melvin Engberson of Wildomar, California, 2 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents, husband Keith, son Carlos Hammer, two sisters, Belva Scrivner and Golda Woodmansee, and three brothers, Dale, Fla, and Merle.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19, 2006, at the Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby with Bishop Kerry Holmgren officiating. The family will visit with friends from 11:30 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. prior to the service on Wednesday. Burial will follow the service at the Annis Little Butte Cemetery.
