N. Blake Boyce, 64, of Lewisville, Idaho died Sunday, March 27, 2005 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
He was born March 18, 1941 in Rigby, Idaho to Reed S. and Fern Puzey Boyce. He married JoAnn Ellen Young on August 10, 1960 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They were married 44 years.
He attended Lewisville, Grant and Menan schools. He attended Rigby High School and Ricks College where he received college scholarships for his athletic abilities in basketball and football. He played Idaho Falls City league basketball until he was 41 years old and coached several different little league baseball and YBA basketball teams over the years.
He farmed and ranched in the Osgood and Menan areas. He was instrumental in developing many large sprinkler farms in the upper Snake River Valley. He created several small businesses and promoted several of his own ideas and business ventures including creating a new plastic pallet for shipping. He worked for and was a top salesman for the “Bio-Chem Farm Fertilizer Company” receiving an award for selling a million dollars worth of product. He also worked for Storage Systems International selling air systems for potato cellars, in which he helped develop.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served as Counselor in the Junior Sunday School, was Church Athletic Director and coached Church Basketball Teams and was a Home Teacher.
Blake made many friends in the Agriculture areas throughout the states of Idaho and Oregon, he never met a stranger and will be missed by all that enjoyed his keen sense of humor and interesting stories.
He is survived by his wife JoAnn Ellen Boyce of Lewisville, Idaho and nine children. Sons: Kurtis (Lisa) Boyce of Menan, Lane (Tammy) Boyce of Lewisville, Trent (Cindy) Boyce of Rigby, and Bryce (April) Boyce of Rigby; Daughters: Christine (Dave) Wesemann of Farmington, Utah, JoEllen (Shawn) Kenney of Greenville, Tennessee, Angela (Kevin) Harrison of Lehi, Utah, Melanie (Ray) Ball of Rigby, and Ashley Boyce of Lewisville. 39 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; Brothers: Ronald (Norma) Boyce of Edmonds, Washington, Dean (Carol) Boyce of Menan, Clyde (Joan) Boyce of Lewisville, and one sister, Marilyn (Terry) McGrew of Meridian, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his parents Reed S and Fern Boyce.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 1, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the Lewisville LDS 2nd Ward Chapel in Lewisville. The family will meet with friends on Thursday, March 31, 2005 at Eckersell Memorial Chapel (101 West Main, Rigby) from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and on Friday, April 1, 2005 at the Lewisville Ward Chapel from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Lewisville Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Funeral Home.
