Elsie Nadeen Allen Smith, 80, of Rigby, Passed away Sunday the 21st of March 2010, at her home surrounded by family.
Nadeen was born the 12th of July 1929 in Rigby, Idaho to Charles Everett Allen and Susie Pearl Cuthbert Allen. She grew up in Rigby, Idaho, and attended school there, graduating from Rigby High School in 1947. On the 17th of November 1948 she married Darcel Call Smith in the Idaho Falls L.D.S. Temple. They are the parents of four boys and three girls.
She is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and participated in many ward organizations all her life: Primary President, Relief-Society Teacher, Secretary, and Ward Newsletter Publisher. She also served a full time mission with her husband to the San Diego California Mission where she was Supervisor over the Family History Center. She shared her love of genealogy and family history with many. She was Founding President of the Jefferson County Historical Society, President of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers for ten years; she researched and placed the monument to recognize the pioneers of the Bybee Ward in Rigby. She dedicated her life to home and family.
Surviving are her children: Ronnie (Sharlene) Smith of Hagerman, Jolene Smith of Rexburg, Marilyn Smith of Rigby, Gary (Kimberly) Smith of Bellevue WA, Bryan (Joyce) Smith of Idaho Falls, SharylAnn (Kelly) Robison of Rexburg; Sisters Dorothy Johnson of Inkom, Patsy (Robert) Wellborn of VA; 32 Grandchildren and 23 Great-Grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Darcel, a son, Bruce, a great-granddaughter Alexia, a sister Twila Hart, and her parents. Viewings will take place at the Rigby L.D.S. 4th Ward Chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday March 26th 2010, and prior to the services on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. The funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 27th 2010 at the Rigby L.D.S. 4th Ward Chapel, 401 West 1st South, Rigby, with Bishop Gary Lusk officiating. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery.
