Nancy Ikyko Smith, loving wife, mother and friend, passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2014. She was born June 25, 1933; a daughter of Singerori and Michi Kosako in Takao, Taiwan, Nancy married Billy Blair Smith on July 25, 1962, in Fukuoka, Japan. They spent 52 happy years together.
Nancy attended school in Kagoshima, Japan and lived in several locations in the USA, Germany and Japan with her husband while he served in the military. She spent the last 35 years in Sunset, Utah.
Nancy was a member of the Shinto Buddhist Church. She enjoyed bowling, walking, traveling and was a sports enthusiast. She also enjoyed cooking, dancing, exercising and especially the relationships she had with her family and friends. She loved her dogs and taught them many tricks.
She is survived by her husband Billy Smith, formerly of Ucon, son, Charles Smith, of Springfield, Virginia, 2 brothers and 1 sister who reside in Japan, brother-in-law Ted Smith, and his wife Bonny, of Idaho Falls.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother, of Japan and mother-in-law, Audrey Smith, of Ucon.
Cremation was done at Myers Mortuary in Roy, Utah.
A graveside service for family and friends will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Sutton Cemetery. Services are under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
Following interment a celebration of Nancy’s life will be held at the home of Dennis and Adelynn Smith, 53 South 45th West, Idaho Falls. All family and friends are invited.
