Nea Mae Getsinger Hayes, 89, of Rigby, Idaho passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2018 in Rexburg, Idaho. She was born in Lovell, Wyoming on March 29, 1928, the daughter of William Joseph Getsinger and Iva May Hickman Getsinger. She grew up in Lorenzo, Idaho and graduated from the 8th grade there. She attended Midway High School in Lewisville, Idaho for a year and then Rigby High School where she graduated in 1946. On February 1, 1947, Nea married Keith R Hayes in Dillon, Montana. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on July 26, 1949. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints she had many opportunities to serve. She served in the Primary, Relief Society, Young Women’s Association and taught a genealogy class. As a member of the Rigby community she was known by many. She had worked at the Reed Drug Store, Idaho Drug Store, Rigby Canners Seed Company, as a dental assistant for Dr. Edwin Lee and for the Rigby School Lunch Program. She enjoyed gardening, and especially being with her family. She was also active in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Nea is survived by her children, Teresa Lynn Gleason of Boise, ID, Suzanne (Tim) Douglass of Annis, ID, Randy Keith (Kathy) Hayes of Pocatello, ID, Kirt R. (LaPreal) Hayes of Rigby, ID and William Kyle (Nicki) Hayes of Archer, ID. She has 23 grandchildren, 65 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. Nea was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Keith, her sister, Wilda Whittaker and three brothers, Boyd, Leo and Keith Getsinger and a son in law, Jim Gleason. A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the Rigby LDS 15th Ward Chapel (602 Sundance, Rigby, ID). The family will meet with friends Friday, January 19, 2018, from 7 to 8:30 PM and again on Saturday prior to services from 9:30 to 10:45 AM, both at the Rigby 15th Ward Church. Interment will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery.
