Nedine Stowell

April 17, 1929 — March 21, 2015

Nedine Maurer Stowell, 85, of Rigby, passed away at home March 21, 2015 surrounded by her family. She was born in Gibson, ID April 17, 1929 to Daniel Fredrick and Sarah Elizabeth Maurer. At age 5 her family moved to Gardner, MT where her father worked for the National Park Service in Yellowstone Park. With the outbreak of WWII, her family moved to Idaho Falls where she graduated from Idaho Falls High School. Nedine attended nursing school at the Idaho Falls LDS hospital and graduated as a registered nurse. She worked as a nurse for Tall Clinic in Rigby for several years and continued to serve others in this capacity throughout her life. She married her sweetheart, Bartley H Stowell, on Sept. 12, 1950 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. She is survived by her five children, Debra (Nile) Hall, of Rigby; Jill (Jim) Jackson, of Lakewood, CO; Todd (Karen) Stowell, of Rigby; Daniel Stowell, of Rigby; Jenny (Brian) Decker, of Idaho Falls; her sister, June Couch, of Idaho Falls, 18 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three sisters, her brother, and twin great grandsons. Nedine was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many ward and stake positions. She worked alongside Bart in their businesses; Stowell Dairy and Milky Way Dairy. Together, for 59 years, they enjoyed traveling, working in their yard as Master Gardeners, and spending time with family. They served in the Singapore/India Mission and in the Idaho Falls Temple baptistery. We rejoice with them as they reunite in their eternal bond, never again to be separated. Services will be held Thursday March 26, 2015 at 11:00 am in the Rigby LDS Stake Center, 258 W 1st N, Rigby, under the direction of Bishop Adam Hall. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening March 25, 2015 from 6-8 pm at Eckersell Funeral Home, 101 W Main St. Rigby, and from 9:30-10:45 the day of the funeral at Rigby LDS Stake Center. Interment will be at the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery.
