Neldon A. Baird

Neldon A. Baird, age 66, of Rigby, died Friday, July 10, 2009, at his home. He was born December 30, 1942, in Challis, Idaho, to Archie Baird and Vera Elizabeth McAffee Baird. He was raised in Milo, attended schools in Rigby and Ririe, and graduated from Ririe High School. During high school, he excelled in sports especially baseball and basketball. He continued his education at Ricks College, and the University of California in Sacramento. He served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam Era. On June 1, 1970, he married Sheryl Duncan in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He worked for Western Farm Service in Idaho Falls and Parker, Pacific Supply and Valley Wide Co-Op in Rexburg, and managed the fertilizer plant in Menan for Valley Wide Co-Op. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was on the Board of Directors for Jefferson Hills Golf Course. Neldon enjoyed golfing, fishing, camping, barbequing, boating, sci-fi, his dog Griz Bear, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife Sheryl D. Baird, of Rigby, daughters, Shanen (Glenn) Unser, of Idaho Falls, Shayla Baird, of Rigby, Shelby A. Hanning, of Rigby, sisters, Connie (Jay) Morgan, of Shelley, Shirlene (Deloy “Nick”) Hall, of Menan, brother, LaMon (Zelma) Baird, of Rigby, and 2 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Nola Yancey. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main St., Rigby. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Monday and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., Tuesday, both at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Milo Cemetery.
