NEWELL A. PIQUET, age 83, of Ucon, Idaho, died at his home, Thursday, July 17, 2003. Newell was born January 13, 1920 in Bates, Idaho, the son of Augustus Constant, and Mary Martin Piquet. Newell grew up and attended schools in Bates & Driggs, Idaho. He graduated from Driggs High School. Newell married Madonna Weekes, March 12, 1941 in the Salt Lake City L.D.S. Temple. She preceded him in death. He later married Shirley B. Call, July 11, 1996 in the Idaho Falls L.D.S. Temple.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints. He attended three years of seminary. He served as an officiator in the Idaho Falls Temple for 26 years. Newell served in the Archer Ward bishopric, and in the Ucon second ward bishopric. He served on the Bonneville District 93 School Board for several years.
Newell had farmed in the Archer area, and operated Newell’s Repair, where he served the Archer area as a mechanic. He later moved to Ucon, where he farmed, and served the Ucon area as a mechanic.
He loved his family, his farm, and the mountains. Survivors: Wife: Shirley B. Piquet of Ucon, Idaho

Survived by 59 grandchildren, 35 great granddchildren, 35 step grandchildren, and 16 step great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 21, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. in the Ucon L.D.S. Stake Center, 2967 East, 105 North, Idaho Falls, Idaho. The family will receive friends Sunday evening 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby, and Monday 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. at the Stake Center. Interment will be in the Sutton Cemetery, under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
