Nina May Leonard, 87, of Ririe, died Friday, November 12, 2010 at The Gables of Ammon Assisted Living Center.
She was born August 24, 1923, in Lewisville, Idaho to Edward James Rawle and Jennie Irene Barnes Rawle.
She was raised in Lewisville and attended Midway schools. On August 24, 1940, she married Ercel Gilbert Leonard in Rigby; their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on May 26, 1964.
She worked at Ririe Elementary, Broulim’s in the bakery, and at the Rigby Maternity Home.
She is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and has served as Relief Society President and Councilor, Primary Teacher, Visiting Teaching Coordinator and other various church callings. She also served on the Ririe Library Board and was a life time member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Nina loved camping, fishing, crocheting, sewing, reading and all family activities.
She is survived by her daughters; Nina May Chapple, of Milo, Celia Ann (Thomas) Whitehouse, of Boiling Springs, SC, Jennie Marie (Ron) Blunck, of Mt. Green, UT, son, Dennis Ray Leonard, of Ucon, sisters, Betty Linder, of Salt Lake City, Utah, Patricia Anderson, of Idaho Falls, brother, George (Kriss) Rawle, of Rancho Cordova CA, 27 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ercel Gilbert Leonard, sons, Terry Gilbert Leonard, Mark Leonard, sisters, Edna Hayes, and Shirley Reyes.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 16, 2010, at the Ririe Stake Center. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby. And from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., prior to services at the stake center. Burial will be in the Ucon Cemetery, under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
