Nora May Wilkins Smith Hill, 94, passed away at her home in Rigby, Idaho, December 31, 2005 of causes incident to age.
She was born to Andrew and Vida Cole Wilkins, January 5, 1911, in Coltman Idaho. She spent her growing up years in Ucon. After one year of high school, she moved to Idaho Falls to work for the California Packing Company, sorting peas.
She married Arville Smith in Pocatello, Idaho. They owned a small farm in Grant Idaho where Arville farmed and worked with horses. They were the parents of six children.
In her younger years she helped neighboring women with house work and new babies. She worked as a cook/waitress for her nephew, worked in various potato warehouses sorting potatoes and was an excellent seamstress. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in several capacities.
Arville died in May of 1967. She married Charlie Hill and they lived for a time in Shelley and then moved to her current home in Rigby.
Survivors include her daughter Sandie (Donn) Hall of Fort Collins, Colorado, and sons Gary (Bellva) Smith and Coy Smith of Rigby, Idaho, sisters Lula (Gwen) Call and Erma (Golden) Marley of Idaho Falls, 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an unnamed baby daughter that died shortly after birth, a son, Larry Smith and daughter Joan Gneiting, her sisters, Lydia (Mitchell) Ball, Lillie (Roy) Miller, Elsie (Morris) Ball and Laura (Darl) Peterson and brothers Les (Connie) Wilkins and Joseph (Gladys) Wilkins.
Nora was preceded in death by her parents and two husbands.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday January 5, 2006 at the Eckersell Funeral Home, 101 W. Main Street, Rigby, Idaho with Bishop Brad Anderson of the Rigby Ninth Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday and on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Ucon Cemetery.
