Norma E. Sanders, 84, of Hamer, Idaho died at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls, Monday, March 22, 2004.
Norma was born September 18, 1919 at Idaho Falls, Idaho, the daughter of Lewis Henry Daniels and Hazel Florence Hatfield Daniels. She grew up in Swan Valley, Idaho and attended grade school there. She graduated from Idaho Falls High School, and continued her education at the Glen E. Clark Business College.
She married Charles Reese Sanders on August 10, 1938 in Livingston, Montana. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan, Utah, LDS Temple.
She worked for the railroad as an express agent, as a draft board clerk for Madison County and assistant clerk for Bonneville County. She cooked for the lunch program at the Hamer School while her husband worked as the Principal. After the Teton Dam broke she worked for HUD, and in Hamer as relief for the Post Master. She also served as PTA President in Hamer.
Norma was a member of The LDS Church and served in the Relief Society, Primary and Young Women’s MIA Presidency.
She was the best cook in the whole country. She made the best pies, wrote poetry and had a good singing voice. She enjoyed flowers, cooking, cross word puzzles, collecting dolls and stamps. She traveled throughout Europe, China and Mexico. She was a beloved wife and companion, a great mother, putting everyone else before herself. She loved being a grandma and helped to raise every grandchild. They all wanted to live with their grandma.
She is survived by her husband Reese Sanders of Hamer, Idaho. Three daughters; Nedra Jean (Ernest) Perkins of South Jordan, Utah, Phyllis (Wayne) Violette of Las Vegas, Nevada and Jayne Marie (Larry ) Niederer of Hamer, Idaho. Three sons; Charles Reese Jr. (Susan) Sanders of Huntington Beach, California, Lewis Henry (Charlotte) Sanders of Eagle, Idaho and David Bert (Barbara) Sanders of Hamer, Idaho. Two sisters, Rosemary Kilborne of Council, Idaho and June Daniels of Kuna, Idaho. Two brothers, Henry Daniels of Council, Idaho and William Daniels of Burley, Idaho. Fifteen grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Florence Champion and Stella Mueller, a brother, James Daniels, a grandson, Roger Sanders and a great grandson, Joseph Earl Sanders.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 26, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. in the Hamer Ward LDS Chapel. The family will meet with friends Thursday, March 25, 2004, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and on Friday, March 26, 2004, from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the Hamer Ward LDS Chapel. Funeral services under the direction of Eckersell Funeral Home in Rigby, Idaho.
