Norma Goulding Stoddard

February 5, 1929 — March 2, 2022

Norma Goulding Stoddard, 93, passed away March 1, 2022, at the Gables in Ammon, ID.

She was born February 5, 1929, to Ernest and Eunice Goulding in St. Anthony, Idaho. She grew up and attended school in St. Anthony and married Harold Stoddard on November 5, 1947, in the Idaho Falls Temple. They moved to Rexburg in 1956 and lived there until 2013 when they moved to Midway, UT. She moved to the Gables in June 2021. Norma was secretary for the Ricks College Counseling Center for over 20 years. She loved the staff and students she worked with. She was also a businesswoman, owning the Mode-O-Day dress shop and the Unique Boutique in Rexburg, and two Diet Centers in California. She served with her husband at the Idaho Falls Temple for 11 ½ years and later served at the Rexburg Stake Employment Center. Norma had a steadfast testimony of Jesus Christ and served him faithfully in many church callings over the years. She had a talent for sewing, crafts and scrapbooking and her many Books of Remembrance were works of art. She enjoyed traveling everywhere and anywhere with friends and family. She was a non-stop reader and also had a large collection of favorite videos. She loved working in her beautiful flower gardens and they were a peaceful, favorite place for her to spend time. Norma also enjoyed being engaged in her community and was a proud member of The Daughters of The Utah Pioneers, serving as Rexburg chapter president as well as serving on the Rexburg Senior Citizen Board. She loved sports and played and excelled in many sports growing up. The basketball coaches loved her because she was 5’9” and athletic. She held season tickets to Ricks College Sports and was also a dedicated BYU sports fan and followed all their different sports teams, both women’s and men’s.

Norma was so proud of her family. She always wanted to know about them and spend time with them. Her six children, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her so much joy. She was kind, patient, and a great example to all of them. She had a great sense of humor that was appreciated by all who knew and associated with her.

Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, parents, Ernest and Eunice Goulding, grand-daughter, Jessica Stoddard and sisters, Reah (Vernal) Stoddard and Greta (James) Wenzel. She is survived by her brother, Arden Goulding of Comanche, OK. Also, her children, Ronnie (Vanell) Stoddard of West Jordan, UT., Goulding (Christina) Stoddard of St George, UT., Sheryl (Jerry) Beck of Sunnydell, ID, Paulette (David) Wetzel of Ammon, ID., Steven (Jan) Stoddard of Helena, MT., and Sterling (LaDawn) Stoddard of Midway, UT. 43 grandchildren and 27 greatgrandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Thanks to Aspen Home Health and Hospice and all those at the Gables in Ammon for their love, help and caring for our mom these past months.
