Norman Ben Gunderson

Norman Ben Gunderson, 46, of Menan, died Monday, July 18, 2011, in Grace, Idaho, from injuries sustained in a plane crash. He was born March 1, 1965, in Rexburg, Idaho to Kay Ben Gunderson and Nola Marie Olaveson Gunderson. He graduated from Rigby High School with the class of 1983. He continued his education at Ricks College and Eastern Idaho Technical College ultimately earning his Master Electrician and contracting license’s in multiple states. On February 16, 1985, he married Lauren Andersen. To this union they added 5 children. Norman is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served on an LDS mission to Peoria, Illinois. As a young man, Norman milked cows, drove spud truck, raised honey bees, and worked for South’s Construction. Later in life, he worked as a sales associate at Electrical Wholesale, and in 1997 he started his own company; Gunderson Electric. He enjoyed spending his leisure time coaching youth basketball, riding motorcycles, flying remote control airplanes, camping, fishing and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Lauren Andersen Gunderson, twins daughters Abbie and Amy (9) of Menan, Sadie (19), of Idaho Falls, and son, Bryant (22) who is serving in the Arcadia, California Mission for the LDS Church, mother, Nola (Tim) Hale, of Menan, sisters, Stephne (Allan) Yoshida, of Rigby, Karen, (Dean) Tornkvist, of Idaho Falls, Janae (Miles) Colburn, of Eagle Mountain, Utah, brothers, Marvin (Angela) Gunderson, of Menan, and Rhett Gunderson, of Washington, DC. He was preceded in death by his father, Kay Ben Gunderson, and passed from this life with his son, Isaac Ben Gunderson doing what he enjoyed most... flying. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 23, 2011 at the Menan LDS Stake Center 698 N. 3600 E., Menan. The family will receive friends Friday evening viewing from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., and Saturday 11:30-12:45 at the Menan LDS Stake Center. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery, under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
