Norman Oliver Ross, 92, of St. Anthony, Idaho passed away Thursday, September 27, 2018 in St. Anthony. Norman was born July 5, 1926 in St. Anthony, Fremont County, Idaho, the son of Edgar “Ted”
Larue Ross and Edna Mae Watts Ross. He lived his entire life in Newdale, Idaho.
Norman excelled in high school sports at Sugar Salem High School where each year he had earned letters in baseball, basketball, football and track. In 1945 he left school early to join the United States Army. He had enough credits to graduate that June. On March 15, 1946 he married Ruby Rackham. The marriage was performed in his parent’s home in Newdale, Idaho. He provided for his family through hard work and farming. He took great pride in his work.
Norman was a life member of the National Rifleman’s Association. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved snowmobiling, horseback riding, and camping with his many friends and neighbors from the Newdale area. He had served as Mayor of the City of Newdale, Idaho and was a member of the Board of Directors for the Teton-Newdale Cemetery.
After retiring, he and Ruby enjoyed RVing to Alaska, Mexico, Canada and throughout the United States. Ruby passed away in August of 2014 and he remained at home for 2 years before entering The Homestead Assisted Living Center in St. Anthony in May of 2016.
Norman is survived by his children; Shana Ross, Marla (John) Anderson, and Stacy (Molli) Ross. A sister, Laura Larue (Delbert) Crain. Thirteen grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby. His parents, Edgar and Edna. A son, Ronnie Ross. A sister, Ruby Lee Stock and a great grandson, Andrew John Rygmyr.
