Ona Maxine Fross

July 8, 1920 — October 26, 2018

Ona Maxine Fross, 98 of Rigby, Idaho, passed away Friday, October 26, 2018 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law; Sherril & Kevin Hancock. She was born July 8, 1920 in Summersville, Missouri to James Bertie Cooley and Mamie Gray Cooley. She was raised and attended schools in Summersville, Missouri.  January 16, 1937, she married Horton Lawrence Fross in Arkansas City, Kansas; they were blessed with four children.  Horton served in the US Airforce during WWII.  During that time, Ona worked building aircraft in Kansas; she was also a member of the Airforce Wives Club. Ona was a member of the Episcopal Church. She enjoyed gardening and was an avid reader. She is survived by her daughter, Sherril (Kevin) Hancock, of Rigby, Idaho; son, Gregory Fross, of Philomath, Oregon, 8 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons, Kenneth Fross and Daryl Fross; sister, Velma Hilton; and brothers, Virgil Cooley, Leslie Cooley, Bill Cooley, Elba Cooley. In keeping with Ona’s wishes, there will not be a funeral. She will be laid to rest next to her sweetheart, Horton, at the Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon.
