Ona Rounds Philis, 82 of Wichita Falls, Texas died Friday, March 14, 2003 in Wichita Falls.
Ona was born November 12, 1920 in Iona, Idaho the daughter of George Clarence
Rounds and Sarah Elizabeth Dayton Rounds. She attended schools in Menan and Lewisville,
Idaho graduating from Midway High School.
Ona moved to California where she was involved in Restaurant and Food Service
Business. She worked for 23 years with the Army/Air Force Exchange Service serving as a Food
Service Manager at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, where she transferred to after
serving at the Oakland Army Depot in California.
She married Michael Philis on October 5, 1939 in Reno, Nevada. He preceded her in
death on July 6, 1981. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a son, Michael Brent
Philis on May 9, 1972 and three brothers and three sisters.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Burkburnett,
Texas. Memorial services were held Monday, March 17, 2003 in Burkburnett.
Ona is survived by two daughters; Diane (John) Balloue of Hayward, California and
Jeanne (Jeffery) Allen of Alameda, California. A sister, Betty (George) Davis of Idaho Falls,
Idaho. Seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 22, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. in the Eckersell
Memorial Chapel. The family will meet with friends at Eckersell Memorial Chapel from 9:30
a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2003. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte
Cemetery in Annis, Idaho.
