ORRIN VERNICE DOUGLASS age 82, of Tetonia, Idaho, died December 22, 2006 in Rexburg, Idaho. Vernice was born September 4, 1924 at Glenns Ferry, Idaho, the son of Orrin Charles, and Stella Madsen Douglass.
Vernice grew up and attended elementary schools in Cache, where he walked or rode a horse to school. He graduated from Teton High School, where he played football, basketball, baseball, and played drums in the band.
He married Dorothy Choules, July 12, 1950 in the Idaho Falls L.D.S. Temple. He farmed and ranched in the Tetonia area most of his life. He served with the United States Air Force during WW II , and was a member of the American Legion Post #95.
As an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints he served as a Bishop, on the high council, and as a stake missionary.
He served on the school board and with the Soil Conservation office. He was a member of the Teton Valley Saddle Cub and with the Teton County Fair & 4-H. He was honored as the Rodeo Grand Marshall.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy Douglass of Tetonia, Idaho. He is survived by two daughters; Marilyn (Dave) Barbo of Rigby, Idaho and JoAnn (Shayne) Rammell of Tetonia, Idaho. Survived by one son Jim (Bobbie) Douglass of Tetonia, Idaho. Survived by three sisters; Maxine Trout of Twin Falls, Idaho; Ilene (Monte) Piquet and Geneal (Larry) Fullmer both of Idaho Falls, Idaho. Survived by 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by one son Thomas V. Douglass, and his parents.
Funeral services will be held, Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in the Tetonia 2nd. Ward in Tetonia, Idaho. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Tetonia 2nd. Ward in Tetonia, and Wednesday 9:30 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. at the Tetonia 2nd Ward Chapel. Burial will be in the Cache-Clawson Cemetery, under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
