Orville J. Larsen

Orville J. Larsen, age 96, of Idaho Falls, died Sunday, October 15, 2006 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. Orville was born August 8, 1910 at Gridley, California a son of George M. Larsen and Elsie M. Smith Larsen. He attended Menan Elementary School, Midway High School and Ricks College. He married Margaret Martin, November 20, 1934 in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. He was an active member of the LDS Church serving a mission to the Eastern States Mission as a young man. He received the United States Navy – Meritorious Civilian Service award in November of 1944 and the Silver Beaver Award for the Boy Scouts of America in 1967. He was a carpenter and enjoyed working with wood where thousands of his exotic wood puzzles have been given freely to people from all over the world. He is survived by his son John O. Larsen of Modesto, California, a sister Hazel Larsen Fretwell of Fresno, California, three grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Margaret, a daughter Margaret, four sisters and three brothers. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 19, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in the Idaho Falls 3rd Ward Chapel, 2025 Jennie Lee Drive. The family will visit with friends on Wednesday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby and on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery.
