Patricia Ruth Walker

December 27, 1927 — July 22, 2008

Patricia “Patsy” Ruth Gneiting Walker peacefully returned to her Heavenly Father and a joyous reunion with her husband, WmWayne Walker, Sr., on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at Lewisville, Idaho. Patsy was born December 27, 1927, to Theodore and Ruth Whitworth Gneiting in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She lived her entire life in Lewisville, attending Lewisville Elementary school and graduating from Midway High School in 1946. She attended Utah State University for a quarter, returning to Lewisville to marry her sweetheart, Wm Wayne Walker, Sr. on March 19, 1947. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple, March 5, 1963. Patsy and Wayne worked side by side farming and ranching on lands in Big Grassy, Island Park, Menan, and Kilgore. Wayne referred to her as his “right hand man”. She loved the out doors! Her specialty was flower and vegetable gardening. You could always see her outside taking care of them. They showed of her love, concern and care by producing abundantly and beautifully! She enjoyed camping, fishing and watching sunsets and sunrises. She had an eye for observing little things Mother Nature has to offer. Patsy was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in the Relief Society as a counselor and compassionate service leader; in the Young Women’s Improvement Association presidency and as a teacher; in the Primary and Sunday School as a teacher and Jr. Sunday School coordinator, and pianist. She was also active in school and community programs serving as a 4-H leader, involved in the Jefferson County Cow Belle Association and in the PTA presidency. Patsy’s joy in life was her children, grand children, great grand children and going to family get togethers. She was one of her grandchildren’s biggest fans and supporter at sport events, music recitals or just anything they were involved in! She was so proud of each of them and loved them with all her heart! She spent the last few years in Rigby, Idaho living at the Homestead Assisted Living and was under the care of Aspen Home Health and Hospice, at the end of her mortal life. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation to her caregivers and nurses for their love, service, and tender mercies given to Patsy during her time in their care. Survivors include her daughters, LuAnn (Larry) Dixon, of Lewisville; Jeanette (Brent) Nukaya, of Shelley; Wm. Wayne, Jr., of Lewisville, a sister, Dorothy Lundgren, of Draper, Utah, sixteen grandchildren and two great granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne, parents, and a brother, Kent. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 26, 2008 at the Menan Stake Center, with Bishop Curtis Thomas, conducting. The family will visit with friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, and from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Saturday, both at the church. Burial will be in the Lewisville Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Humanitarian Fund.
